whoops… we’ve been kinda slack in updating the blog. the past 3 days have been a bit of a blur but yes, we made it! the gala opening on sat was a blast… everything came together beautifully.

great food. teeq turned out to be the best choice we made – their food presentation & service was excellent. huge thanks to chef kevin cape and his team! so easy to work with. can’t wait for them to be opened proper!

great show. what else can you expect from the hands percussion team, young kl singers, nyoba kan, douglas lim, allah, diaries ‘09, klpac string ensemble, eddy chin and ramli ibrahim & guna of sutra dance theatre. thanks guys! : D

and to everyone who showed up that night and to the show on sunday (it was soo full we had ppl on the steps)… thank you!

Yup, we’re looking for people for box office & tech.

For our box office, we’re after a bubbly, people person to sell tickets and attend to any customer enquiries. You may also need to help out with other Front-of-House duties. So yeah you’ll be dealing with lots & lots of people…if you like that, the job’s for you!

For our technical team, we need someone with some experience in lighting but you must also be willing to work on sound and rigging.

14 October, 8.30pm: All-male singer-songwriter showcase feat. Azmyl Yunor, Ariff Akhir, Ian Chow & Tony Leo

15 October, 8.30pm: Contemporary dance showcase feat. choreography by Gan Chih Pei, Bilqis Hijjas, Teresa Chian, Mew Chang Tsing, Leng Poh Gee, Ming Low & Choo Tee Kuang (curated by MyDance Alliance)

16 October, 8.30pm: Double bill – Allah & Mangli feat. Qahar Aqilah & Redza Minhat (Allah), Ashraf Zain & Tuan Faisal (Mangli); directed by Megat Sharizal & written by Adiwijaya

17 October, 8.30pm: Classical & classical pop concert feat. klpac String Ensemble & conducted by Brian Tan

18 October, 8.30pm: T4YP Sweatshop feat. klpac’s T4YP Ensemble & directed by Christopher Ling

We won’t be issuing any tickets / passes for these free shows to make it easier for everyone. Just walk right in, seats on first-come-first-served basis : )

Guys, for those of you who are coming for the indie film screening tonight – the escalator up to the rooftop is closed for maintenance. That means you have to take the bubble lift up (it’s outside Dome on Ground Floor).
Our apologies for the inconvenience…

We’ll be having a few more test run performances this week leading up to the Gala Opening on 10.10.09. Those who’d like to check out the venue before the opening, do drop by & give us your feedback : )  You don’t need to get tickets / passes for the trial run, just walk right in.

Despite the hiccups we experienced  just before the official test run, everything worked out in the end. The Actors Studio takes great pride in our hardworking technical team. Kudos, guys!

It was great to see how such an experimental stage can be utilized to the max! The young stars of Young KL Singers managed to pull off an enjoyable show.
